- Yuri’s Teleconference: 12 April 2011: Similar to Yuri´s night, this event celebrates two space exploration milestones - the launch of the first human into space, Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961 and the launch of the first Space Shuttle, STS-1, on April 12, 1981. The teleconference event aims to initiate dialogues between students around the world with similar space interests.
- We Want Our Future: Outreach Postcard Activity: In association with the We Want Our Future Initiative, a grassroots space-based outreach campaign, SGAC South Africa will be collaborating with young South African students to recognize the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). The postcard activity aims to challenge students to create postcards of their dreams for the future of space and to spark creativity and motivation in students.
- Space School Africa Programme: The focus of Space School Africa is educational outreach and offers students the opportunity to learn and experience aspects of the outer-atmospheric environment.
- World Space Week (WSW, 4 to 10 October): WSW is a global space celebration of international space science and technology achievements. More information on events will be posted soon! Do you have an idea for WSW event in South Africa? We’d love to hear it from you!
