SGAC Russia Welcome to the SGAC Russia page! Russia has a great history of space exploration, having launched the first satellite and the first man in space. Its contribution to the space sector development is enormous and still continues to grow. Despite having gone through many changes and obstacles in recent decades, Russia still occupies a leading position in the space sector. Space achievements give inspiration and hope for people all over the country. SGAC Russia is here to make it easier for the Russian university students and young professionals to build a stronger network, enhance their voice in space policy, and develop their leadership skills!
Young Space Activities Overview in Russia The year 2011 has been a Year of Cosmonautics in Russia and we had lots of exciting activities! We had interesting contests in scientific area as well as in art. “Gagarin’s readings” and “Korolev’s readings” – very famous and important seminar for youth – were restored! They allowed students and young professionals to meet eminent astronauts and famous scientists. In the beginning of this year Yuri’s Night parties were thundered around Russia! Look at the list of parties here http://yurisnight.net/partylist/ ! Moscow Aviation Institute held a summer course in their International Aerospace School in the Crimea. The most successful students were chosen after a scientific competition for joining to this School. Also in September in Kolomna there was organised The International Satellite Navigation School. The Youth Space Center of Bauman Moscow State Technical University held a workshop during summer 2011 on Space Development having many participants from Russia and foreign countries. Russian Academy of Science and Star-City held a big International Space Forum in October. And we hope next year will hold this high level of interest to space science! Aside from these academic and professional activities, there are various astronomical clubs spread all over the country where young enthusiasts can share their passion and interests. SGAC hopes to link you to them, and them to you! We are are always ready to help you with your international experience!
