SGAC Spain is made up of space university students and young professionals interested in making a contribution to the enhancement of space education and training opportunities, as well as encouraging awareness of space activities. In the following sections, you will find information on the space activities and useful links for students and young professionals. If you would like to propose or initiate a project under the SGAC umbrella or would like to update this page, then please contact us! Young Space Activities Overview in Spain Spain has been a pioneer in space activities and has collaborated with various international organisations, such as NASA. In 1960, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between NASA and Spain to establish the first NASA satellite tracking station in Spain. Since then, Spain has been very active in national and international space activities. Aside from SGAC, there are a number of active space related groups such as LEEM, the Laboratory for Space and Microgravity Research (Laboratorio para Experimentación en Espacio y Microgravedad). LEEM was created by Spanish university students and young professionals interested in space projects and education. The main intention of the association is to support students and space enthusiasts wishing to initiate microgravity or space related projects. LEEM also develops its own projects in cooperation with other space organisations, industry and universities and is working towards achieving more ambitious goals. Furthermore, societies like The Mars Society Spain and Spain Rocketry as well as academic institutions such as The Centre for the Industrial Technical Development, Spanish Aerospace Technical Institute (INTA) and the Gran Telescopio de Canarias are also actively working on raising awareness of space related topics in Spain.
