Young Space Activities Overview in Switzerland

There are various space related events in Switzerland with one of the most important being the annual Space Days event which is organised by the Swiss Space Association. The “Space Days” event aims to bring together experts, leaders and specialists from academia, various engineering sectors, the space industry, official representatives of the national space office as well as enthusiasts from various space advocacy groups, students and the general public. Many activities are held during Space Days such as, visits, lectures, amateur-radio contacts with the ISS, just to name a few. SGAC Switzerland also participates in the Space Days event.

Country-Specific Events in 2010

  • Swiss Space Days (Autumn 2010): The next Space Days will take place during autumn 2010. Check the event site for updates on location and date.
  • The Mars Dreamers (movie, debuted February 2010): This is a documentary by the Swiss Filmmaker Richard Dindo about scientists, authors, architects, students, engineers, men and women who are convinced that the colonisation of Mars would ensure humanity's survival and could contribute to better understand the origins of life on Earth. For these men and women, the creation of a new civilisation and of a "new man" on Mars is a necessity and, despite the harsh conditions, a possibility.
  • Space Tourists (movie): This documentary by the Swiss filmmaker Christian Frei, in which he turns to an age-old dream of man: to leave our planet as a «normal person» and travel into outer space. For 20 million dollars, the American Anousheh Ansari was able to fulfil this childhood dream. This documentary follows her journey into space and shows everyday life, as it is on the International Space Station. You will find a trailer ">here.
