Welcome to the page of SGAC Israel! Since 2002, when the first Israeli delegates participated at the World Space Congress, Israeli students and young space professionals have become part of the global Space Generation. Israel has a developed local aerospace industry, building and launching its own satellites. There is also a strong interest in space education and activities, including space research, astronomy and more.

Young Space Activities Overview

The local student activities are concentrated at the aerospace faculty at the Technion, and the astronomy club at the Tel-Aviv University. The activities include lectures, space education projects and more.

Many young space professionals study at the International Space University, build cubesats and participate in space networking activities, including Yuri’s Night. The local astronomy association is also a place to be for young people interested in space.

Country-Specific Events in 2010

  • Perseids meteor shower observations (12 August), Negev: Two events are being organized by the local astronomy associations and the Tel-Aviv university astronomy club, to take place at the Negev. This is a public outreach event where anyone can come and learn about astronomy and space.
  • Israeli Space conference (27-18 August)
