29th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing / 10th International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Symposium
Date and Time
Description
This Joint Symposium is a partnership of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society and the
International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Group. The Symposium will celebrate the
International Polar Year (IPY) and recognize and present excellence in international remote
sensing science in a wide variety of application fields. The Symposium will provide an
international forum for the discussion of work in Canada, other circumpolar regions of the
world (Arctic and Antarctic) and elsewhere. Session topics cover a broad range of
applications and technical areas, including those dedicated to polar remote sensing, as well
as sessions on other topics that do not concern polar work. The conference topics are below,
and additional topics and/or other Special Sessions can be considered:
• Environmental monitoring
• Wildlife management, habitat protection
• Arctic vegetation
• Land and water management
• Pollution control
• Snow and ice, glaciers
• Climatology
• Oceanography
• Geology
• Mineral and oil and gas exploration
• Forestry
• Agriculture
• Wetlands
• Instrumentation
• RADARSAT
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
• LiDAR
• Hyperspectral remote sensing
• Ground, Airborne and Satellite imaging
• Image Processing Algorithms
• Archaeology
• Climate Change
• Data Integration, Data Mining , Modeling
• Geographic Information System and Web based portals
• Boreal and Arctic processes
• International Polar Year (IPY 2007/2008)
This symposium will be of interest to scientists, scholars, industry and government
professionals and students involved in renewable and non-renewable resource management
in Canada and other parts of the world. The symposium will provide a forum for the exchange
of current applied international research, the presentation of new technology, and the
advancement of international co-operation in the circumpolar and other regions of the world.
It will also serve as an excellent way to report on International Polar Year activities that are
being conducted in 2007/2008.
