Dear Space Generation,
June marked the end of Dr. Chris Boshuizen's term as Executive Director of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). The Council would like to thank Chris for his enormous contributions to the organisation over the last 6 years and the recent 2 years as Executive Director, and to acknowledge his many achievements with the organisation.
Chris has a strong history in space activities in Australia as well as globally and after being a delegate at SGS 2002 in Houston, he assisted in organising the follow up event of the Space Generation Congress, held in Bremen in 2003. He was again a part of the organising committee for the SGC 2004 in Vancouver and became Event Manager with SGC'05 in Fukuoka. Japan is a second home to Chris and he is fluent in the language from his time living and working there.
In 2004 he founded an international directory for the space industry (Space-Industry.com) and he submitted his PhD in Physics at the University of Sydney in 2005 as well as set up an online open-access project management tool called Mission Forge. Chris relentlessly worked on securing many funding agreements throughout the years for SGAC as well as this year's Yuri's Night Bay Area Event. He has constantly been a vocal advocator for space worldwide and will surely continue to do so in the future.
Behind the scenes, he has taken on key roles as web admin taking care of website design and programming, as well as leading the creation and transition to SGAC's new website. In addition, he has sustained and created important networks with key space personnel and industry around the globe.
Some of his other achievements include ensuring a strong SGAC presence at significant global events such as NGEC and the Boston University Symposium focusing on the next 50 years of space activities. He coordinated the 50 Year Vision surveys conducted globally and presented by the SGAC as the visions of world youth to key members of space industry worldwide.
SGAC would like to thank Chris for his long time commitment towards defining and following the goals and visions of the Space Generation, and particularly for his inspirational leadership role as Executive Director over the last two years. We wish him the absolute best in his new NASA based role and in all that is to come in his bright future.
Ad astra.
